As the measures taken against the crisis are increasing, the coronavirus continues to be our only agenda. Psychiatrist Esra Uğurlu Koçer, MD, İş Bank subsidiary Bayındır İçerenköy Hospital and Bayındır Levent Medical Center emphasizes that, in this period you may experience fears about your social and family life, but anxiety and panic are more dangerous than the virus itself.

The new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) continues to be on the agenda, that  raises concerns and fears. Healthcare workers carry great risks not only for themselves but also for their loved ones because of the high probability of contact with infected patients. In this period, while the healthcare workers fulfill their responsibilities, they are also concerned about their social and family life.

Anxiety and Panic are Contagious!
Esra Uğurlu Koçer, MD, Psychiatrist of Bayındır İçerenköy Hospital and Bayındır Levent Medical Center, reported that;  “Every person reacts to the stressful situations differently within their personal characteristics, traumatic experiences and current condition. Suspense is a serious problem for everyone. We cannot control everything. First of all, we have to make sure that we take all the measures depend on us. The most important thing to remember is that anxiety and panic are more contagious than the virus itself.

Don’t Affect Each Other in a Negative Way!
By stating that the information pollution makes people more worried , Bayındır İçerenköy Hospital and Bayındır Levent Medical Center, Psychiatrist Esra Uğurlu Koçer, MD, gives recommendation about the process; ”Considering that we cannot ignore what we have read or heard, paying attention to sharing reliable and accurate information can make our life a little easier in this difficult process. It has always been very easy to affect each other in a negative way, demotivate and lose hope. But in this process; we need to properly manage our anxiety to keep our immune system strong”.

Attention To Information Pollution On Social Media!
By stating that social media causes anxiety with information pollution in this regard as in every subject, Psychiatrist Esra Uğurlu Koçer, MD said, “Anxiety, when experienced at a normal level, is a defense mechanism that protects people against dangers and ensures their survival. This is exactly why we should manage our anxiety properly and take the necessary measures to be protective. The first precaution we will take for this should be to prevent the information pollution we create between us and our social environment.”
